Skintyte Skin Tightening

As we get older, our skin loses two important proteins that keep it firm and healthy: collagen and elastin. Collagen gives the skin structure and support, while elastin provides the skin with strength and elasticity. After the age of 20, collagen and elastin production decline by about 1% each year, making the skin thinner, less resilient and more prone to sagging.

SkinTyte uses broad band light (BBL) technology to deliver rapid, gentle pulses of infrared energy into the skin, heating the deeper dermis to firm and tighten treated areas. As the infrared light warms the collagen below the epidermis, this heat causes the skin to retract and tighten while simultaneously triggering neocollagenesis, or the formation of new collagen. It also boosts elastin production for increased firmness. Following treatment, fresh collagen is created on top of a framework of tighter skin, leading to a smoother and tauter appearance.

SkinTyte II uses the same technology as SkinTyte, but with some important upgrades. SkinTyte II is more powerful and efficient with built-in cooling and a large spot size, able to produce consistent, noticeable results in half the time of older generations of SkinTyte. Treating areas like the abdomen can now be done in 15 to 20 minutes, rather than 30 minutes to an hour. SkinTyte II is also the only treatment that rejuvenates using both heat and light, delivering wavelengths of 590 nm and above that trigger youthful gene expression.

Generally, we recommend patients undergo a series of four to five treatment sessions spaced at least three weeks apart to achieve optimal results. However, you may need more treatments depending on your unique concerns and expectations. Cellulite is caused by fat cells and rigid bands of connective tissue (fibrous septae) that pull downward on the skin, creating a dimpled appearance. SkinTyte may provide a modest improvement in unwanted cellulite by tightening and firming the skin, but it isn’t a primary benefit of treatment.

SkinTyte involves little to no side effects. However, you may experience temporary redness or swelling in treated areas, but this should subside within a day or two. Facial swelling is typically minimal after treatment, and patients can wear makeup soon afterward.
